Ancient Darkness
18" x 18" framed archival inkjet print
A mistake is made when trying to render an uncharted area in deep space that was expected to reveal the early universe shortly after the Big Bang. In this image it was anticipated that a portrait of the first hydrogen clouds that eventually formed gallaxies and stars would be rendered. Instead, not a single photon is collected during a 20 day exposure, and results in an image of darkness from 47 billion years ago.
